One of the most common reasons users might see a 1x1 GIF is the Kaspersky "Anti-Banner" feature. For some reason, instead of replacing the problem image in the page where it was supposed to load, you get the replacement image as the only content in the tab. Other than disabling Anti-Banner, I don't know if there is a fix for this. Could you investigate whether that has any effect?

There are other things that need attention.
Your System Details List shows multiple Flash plugins.
- Shockwave Flash 15.0 r0
- Shockwave Flash 19.0 r0
You can find the installation path of all plugins on the about:plugins page.
You can check the Flash player installation folder for multiple Flash player plugins and remove older version(s) of the plugin (NPSWF32) and possibly (re)install the latest Flash player.

Recently I have tried to open several different web-sites, and nothing happens other than a box appears showing: "clk (GIF image, 1 x 1 pixels)" However I am running Norton Internet Security, and it does not seem to have a banner ad option. I have spent a lot of time online with Nortons support and they have remoted in to my computer and performed a few functions including resetting firefox, but to no avail. Running win 7 SP1, and Firefox 44.0.2 NIS ver 22.5.5.15
Hi verrall
Could you please start a new thread for your question?
Then you can provide more information like your operating system and installed extensions and installed plugins.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.
