Firefox did a mystery update. I have lost all my usernames/passwords. The current fix here listed does not work (the property does not exist in about:config).

Did Firefox perform a Refresh? Please check your desktop for a folder named Old Firefox Data that we might be able to use for recovery.
Also, just to confirm, did you use Firefox's built-in Password Manager feature to store your passwords, or an add-on? If a password-related add-on stopped working in Firefox 40, it might need an update. The details depend on which program it is.
