How do I stop: 1) scrolling ads/info that stays on the page even as I scroll down; 2) new side tabs that pop up at the end of articles to tease next articles?

more options

I have two issues. Over the last several months, on certain sites there are ads or facebook/twitter links that scroll and stay on the page even as I scroll lower. I find the moving images distracting and would like to stop them. How? I have seen another development that as I get near the end of an article, two tabs appear on the left and right side of the screen that tease the previous and next article. Often these tabs appear on top of the text of the article that I'm currently trying to read, thus making it difficult to finish the current article. How do I stop these tabs?

Chosen solution

for 1) Try using an "ad block" extension, to begin with. click >> AMO search for "ad block"

I am using this one - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/

for 2) You could try using this extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/umatrix/ - too complicated for me, I rarely see those silly "previous" and "next" teases and my screen is wide enough that they don't cover any text I am reading.
