Chosen solution

Do you mean on Google's own website? That definitely shouldn't happen.

I have noticed something odd when using the Firefox Search Bar, on the main toolbar. Not sure whether you are running into this there:

If you are entering your query and you happen to bump your mouse while the mouse pointer is hovering over the panel, Firefox will interpret that as indicating what you want to happen when pressing the Enter key. This can cause any search engine shown there to open, or the preferences page.

But if you click the little arrow to run your search, Firefox shouldn't be confused and should use your default search engine.

Your screenshot doesn't work if I click it, but it looks like a screenshot of the "Options/Preferences > Search" window (about:preferences#search)

Do you click the "Change Search Settings" item in the right-click drop-down of the search bar to open this window?
