I was trying to change what website opens in a new tab and I must have change the wrong thing. I now cant access my URL bar. When I type something in the search bar all it does nothing. Cant access any of the buttons either at the bottom.

You can delete the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value. You may have to delete the xulstore.json file as well.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

You're welcome.

You should always be cautious if you change a pref and make sure that you understand what you are doing. If you want to change the page that opens in as new tab to the home page about:home then you would have to set the browser.newtab.url pref to about:home.

  • about:config: browser.newtab.url = about:home

I don't know what went wrong that you ended up with a window that only has the title bar.

The tab was opening up a weird site and as soon as i saw the first address that matched i went and changed it to open up the default webpage for Firefox.

Don't worry i read it all now carefully and changed the correct one for the new tab.
