I want to keep Adobe Flash from locking out

I updated FF about a month ago, and after I fixed things with Classic Theme Restorer and updated my addons, I keep having problems with the browser blocking out Flash (which also affects performance since Flash is everywhere) because it's "vulnerable" and needs updating. Now, FF didn't used to do this to me. As far as it was concerned, if an addon was out of date then you updated it because it was obviously broken. If it had a vulnerability, you were on your own.

Well, I'd rather be on my own. I don't care if this computer is compromised or whatever chicken-little nonsense occurs that requires me to go through a manual re-install of Flash to update it every 1-3 weeks. This is stupid.

So I'm asking you how I can disable the browser from blocking Flash the way it does. I never want to see the "Firefox has prevented the outdated plugin "Adobe Flash" from running on [domain]." black bar again. So please help me with that.

hello, firefox won't keep users with security vulnerabilities out on their own!

why not just see the notification as a service to keep vulnerable plugins up-to-date - this would be the sensible option and doesn't really require such amounts of effort that would warrant any big workarounds... the flash update doesn't take more than a minute or so: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Because reinstalling Flash so often is a pain. I'm not interested in being sensible. I just want to fix my problem so I can forget about it for as long as possible.

The problem is with FF blocking me, which is why I'm here. It never used to do this before I upgraded to v34 from, I don't know, I think it was v16 or so. I'm not interested in frills like this that only serve to keep Mozilla devs employed.

Anyway, please tell me what to change in about:config or wherever that will stop the browser from disrupting my day to day routine like this.

That is a security feature that can't be disabled thru about:config. The best you can do is "Allow Now" per Flash page. At least it's not a "hard-block".

Don't like it? Use a different browser.

Ignore important security advice and the next problems may not be just Firefox not working, your computer itself may develop problems, or you may become a victim of identity theft.

You may also need to update Firefox, if you have not already done so

Why would I update FF if doing so caused me this problem in the first place? Not to mention all the nonsense frills I needed Classic Theme Restorer to sort out. I went two years or so without updating FF to no incident, and I'm not interested in making a habit of it now. I don't use my computer to download porn or go on other illicit sites, and I don't bank with it or anything. I'm all adblocked and such too, so I'm not worried. I'm not exactly satisfied either with "Too bad, get another browser" as an answer. So I guess I'll ask which version or range of versions this started popping up in an obligatory capacity, so I can downgrade this browser in order to stop it from doing this. Or if there's another way outside of about:config to fix this, I'd be glad to hear that too. Call me a fool if you like, but that's not the issue. The browser giving me grief is.

That's how you see it! Firefox isn't causing your "problem".

I am having the same issues which are caused by the recant rash of Flash security updates with my Firefox 28 installation - I need to "Allow" for every video that I want to view, because I am obstinate about not wanting to update Flash to a version that I think is going to cause other problems on my old WinXP PC.

The version of FF I had before upgrading dozens of numbers worth didn't do that. I respect your obstinacy. What you're saying is that v28 is too new a version to downgrade to.
