Remove new drop-down search menu entirely?
A new drop-down menu appeared in the search bar today, and I'd like to remove it *entirely*. By this I mean I'd prefer NO animated drop-down box/menu whatsoever--just the search box by itself, nothing more, just as it was before today. Is this possible?
In other words, even if though I emptied the search drop-down menu of options, it still appears and starts jumping around every time I search, making itself a pointless annoyance. While I do perceive that I might find this new function useful at some point, for the moment I'd prefer to turn it off.
Firefox version 34.0.5 Windows XP, SP3.

You can revert to the former Search Bar scheme like this.
Open up about:config (typed in the Location Bar) Right-click and toggle this preference to false
browser.search.showOneOffButtons
Then restart Firefox.

Thank you the-edmeister! This solved my problem -- and I'm now implementing it on ALL my computers so I can get rid of that annoying drop-down!
