I'm trying to download any of multiple .zip files from a vendor and all of the downloads fail before I even choose and confirm a location to save the file to; the same files download without issue using Internet Explorer 9. The details are mostly identical to question 1019513; I am left with a .part folder that appears to be the correct file size. The main difference is that I'm using Windows 7, not OSX, and I've got no idea on any "parental controls" or similar, as came into play with that issue. I'm inside of a corporate environment and am an administrator on my PC (I'm in the IT department), but disabling the Access Protection and On-Access Scanner from my McAfee console yields no better results. This only started happening 1-2 days ago and I've performed the "Reset Firefox" action, also with no luck.

Hi MrDinga, Thank you to the reference to the other issue, it looks like in this version of Firefox they removed the scanwhendone about: config entry, thus it should not try to detect the antivirus on your computer anymore.

As an experiment, if you change the extension of the .part file does the file open normally?

it is also possible to see if it will download to another folder from the Firefox Menu > Options > General

It is also possible to try to reset the Download folder or what the properties are for the file type you are downloading: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cant-download-or-save-files#firefox:...
