Since I have updated to the latest FF v32 it always checks the compatibility of the addons everytime I start it up. It was really annoying so i went back to a previous version and everything worked fine, all the addons worked and there was no issue but this new version has done nothing but give me a headache. Is this a bug in the new system update or what? Done a new install with it, with a new directory and tried with same. Delete old prefetch (if any), windows cache, restarted but the same issue. Running Win7 64-bit

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.

Delete the extensions.* files (e.g. extensions.json, extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

See "Corrupt extension files":

If you see disabled or not compatible extensions in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left end of the Search bar to check if there is a compatibility update available.

You can also check for issues with the preferences.

Delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

Well it wasn't any of the extensions/addons being corrupt as I went through the steps and reset them all in your description but I wasn't able to change my profile or create a new one as the profilemanager does not exist :( - It just opens firefox. Tried the full path and short. Maybe this is the issue as it isn't saving anything?

You can only bring up the Profile Manager when all Firefox instances are closed, so if necessary check that in the Windows Task Manager on the processes tab.

Yeh I closed FF through task manager most times. I re-installed it again and created a new profile and seems to have worked but now I gotta find all my addons again :( Thanks heaps for helping guys :)

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.
