why was my controls overridden for a new download?
I have it set that Mozilla informs me for any updates and I choose when and where I do the installs. I open my Thunderbird app and the initial note is "Welcome to Daily" whereby some one has decided that I will receive nightly updates.
Now I have an unresponsive mail system when I try to download new messages or open mail.
I don't want anything changed on my system, how do I revert back to the release before 45.1.0 and get off the "release update channel? I do not remember approving anything to be added to this new update format.

There was an incorrect start page showing on the release channel indicating that you were on the daily channel but that was fixed around May 24 or 25. It was just the wrong start page showing. No one was moved off the release channel without their permission.
What version are you running now?

What version are you running now?
It is not possible for a version of Thunderbird or Firefox to update from one channel to a build on another channel.
You likely still have the Tb 45.1.0 Release. This was a message that Tb 45.1.0 users got last week if they had the Start page enabled but was said to be fixed as of May 25.
This message was not intended for Release users.
I know that it should be impossible for any app override the client's setting. My setting for initial page for the past 10 years has been blank and today it was Thunderbird's start page. I am satisfied with the answer that it was a glitch in the system and should not have gone out to the public. So, I wish this issue to be closed.

It was intended for the public as in Thunderbird users Testing the Daily channel builds but the Release channel users (45.1.0) got this message by mistake also for a bit.
