The US Database page asks for a plug-in to be installed. It does not install and there is also no indication whether such a plug-in exists.

ToyViewer is an application, not a plugin. Useless, when you cannot download the TIFF files.

The only solution is to switch to another provider of free patent images, like freepatentsonline.com

They provide the whole patent as a single pdf file, as well as the full text in html, so you can use your browser's search function.
