I want to turn off ALL threads in Thunderbird.

Just the last two days TWO IMPORTANT messages (from two different people) on my computer did not display in my email feed, I only saw them by accident on my phone..

I have searched very, very many times to change the settings, but regardless of what I do, it doesn't help..

I have tried "View / Sort by / Unthreaded", it doesn't work.. I have tried to look for the "Organize Mail by Thread" in Settings, I cannot find it. I have spent SOOOO much time trying to find out about this, but not been successful... (It is NOT the first time this has happened!)

Can anyone help??

This is a huge imposition on the users. The default should be NO THREADS. I just want to read my messages sequentially. Why are we tasked to fix this when we did not ask for it?

Why does Thunderbird keep defaulting to this really, really unhelpful Threading option every two or three months. It is very annoying as it tends to 'hide' messages.
