can not access thunderbird email on pc, but can on smart phone

Just yesterday, I tried to download my latest email with "get messages" on my PC but got a message saying "error with account stanmalette" and "Sending of username did not succeed. Mail server pop.embarqmail.com responded: stanmalette is an invalid mailbox.Account name should be the fully qualified email address". I can still get my thunderbird email on my phone, but the PC seems locked as of 10/24/22. Should I set up the account again, or download Thunderbird again, and should I be pop or imap? I have been using Thunderbird for many years and this was unexpected and confusing. Stan

What is the User Name in Account Settings? It looks like it is the part of the address before the @, instead of the full email address, which is required by centurylink.
