Firefox Sticking and Freezing Badly, But Video and Audio Streaming are Fine

Recently and suddenly, Firefox starting sticking and freezing so badly that it's extremely difficult to use. It's freezing with every five or six letters typed, for example.

I have tried virtually all of the recommended fixes for Firefox sticking and freezing, but none have worked.

I'm running Google Chrome simultaneously (I always do this) and it's fine - no problem.

I have noticed though that if I play a video in Firefox, there are no delays and it streams fine, which seems odd, since otherwise it's in bad shape.

What might be the problem?

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
