For some reason I can't display the screenshot feature of Firefox. I am using the latest version 68 (64bit) on a Windows 7 prof. laptop. The feature works perfect on my home computer but not on the laptop where it does not show at all. Clicking on the tree dots there is no option for the Screenshots. Checking the about:config page, the settings look ok, but still no option in the menu. I have tried to fresh reinstall Firefox to no avail. The problem persists.

Any ideas?

Chosen solution

Hello jscher2000, I have reviewed the Launcher process / UAC settings in windows and that solved my problems (although nothing seemed wrong there - everything was at their default settings). Somehow after resetting UAC, the screenshot button is back and working fine. The article you sent was helpful. Thank You

Hi Radu, that is puzzling. If you check the Troubleshooting Information page, can you confirm it is listed there. Either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

Scroll down to the "Firefox Features" section, where

Firefox Screenshots 39.0.0 screenshots@mozilla.org

should appear in the table.

Have you noticed any other issues in Firefox 68? Users who disabled UAC (set to "do not notify") may be blocked from using drag-and-drop, for example, since Firefox running at a lower privilege level cannot send shortcuts or images to Windows Explorer running at a higher privilege level. This article has more info on that, if it is relevant: Drag and Drop errors with Firefox Launcher Process enabled and Windows UAC disabled - How to Fix.

Hello jscher2000,

Yes I can confirm it is there, mentioned Firefox Screenshots 39.0.0 screenshots@mozilla.org

But how can I use it? As you saw in my initial screenshot, the button is not there, therefore cannot use the service.

How can I make use of the Screenshot feature? Thank you for your answer

Hi Radu, is it still available near the bottom of the right-click context menu if you right-click a blank area of the page?
