Address Book empty after update to 60.7.2

I have a MacBook Air running Mojave 10.14.5, on which I recently updated Thunderbird to 60.7.2. Since then, addresses fill in erratically even when someone is listed in my Contacts list. When I open Collected Addresses, it is blank, with all options greyed out. At the top under the menu bar a message says, "Cpontacts from remote address books are not shown until you search. At the bottom of that box another message reads "This address book shows contacts only after a search." Putting a name into a search box yields nothing. At the very bottom of the box in 9-pt or so type it reads "Name Email Organization Work Phone". Another box, this one blank and without a lower border, is below that. Thanks for any ideas you may have.

I need to clarify my post above. Some names/addresses won't fill in at all. I can't detect a pattern.

Do you have your Thunderbird profile somewhere that is either not a local drive or in a space on your local drive that is syncs to a remote location, like google drive?

No, it's all local. I hate it in this case that I have to judge your reply with only two choices: helpful and not helpful, since you have to ask me questions to rule issues in or out and you can't know the answer ahead of time!

Thunderbird > Preferences > Composition > 'Addressing' tab Is 'Collected Addresses' address book currently set up to automatically collect/add outgoing email addresses ?

In Thunderbird Help > Troubleshooting Information Under 'Application basics' section, locate 'Profile folder' click on 'Open folder' button or it may says 'Open Finder'. In profile name folder, how many 'history.mab' files do you see? Is there a 'history-1.mab' file or 'history.mab.bak' file ?

Well guess what? For some unknown reason, the address book has returned. After several computer shutdowns and restarts over several days, it must have felt encouraged enough to come back for an encore. Thank-you for all your ideas.
