How can I stop the yahoo search bar?
I have cleared the yahoo from search engines in the settings and it is still coming up when I highlight and request search google for this.
Chosen solution
It is because you have an add-on called "Search Web" installed, which is resetting your search engine to Yahoo. Please remove that add-on, and set your search engine back to what you actually want to

Thanks Tyler!!
thanks Tyler, but where do I find this SEARCH WEB add-on, and how do I remove it? When I click on ADD-ONS, I don't see any add-ons at all. Please help.
Hi temesse, there are many different possible causes of search engine changes, so please do not assume you have exactly this same problem.
One possible culprit would be an extension. You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
- type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return
In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions.
Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything search related, or that you just do not remember installing or why? If in doubt, disable (or remove).
If you make any changes, any improvement?
thanks jscher2000, I will give this a try and let you know results.
jscher2000, there's only three things under extensions: Norton Identity Safe, Norton Safe Web, and uBlock Origin.
None of these seem to be related to yahoo search.
any ideas?
Hi temesse, could you mention:
(1) On the Options/Preferences page, default search setting, what is the exact name of the unwanted default search engine? And what is the full URL of the results page from the address bar?
(2) Does Yahoo take over anywhere else, such as your startup page or home page (the page that appears in a new window, or when you click the Home button on the toolbar)?
sorry for the delay jscher. the unwanted search engine YAHOO does not show up anywhere in options/preferences, only GOOGLE is there, that is what is very confusing, YAHOO is not anywhere, I checked w/Norton, they don't know how to fix this either, it just ticks me off more every day!
Temesse, can you start a new thread for your issue, and include your about:support data?
Hello Tyler, I don't know what the "about:support data" you are referring to.
My problem is YAHOO SEARCH constantly interrupts GOOGLE SEARCH and I have deleted everything but GOOGLE, YAHOO is nowhere to be found, and yet it continues to popup...UGHHHHH!!!!
Also, I do not have the SEARCH WEB add-on as suggested from mollybuddy above.
Type about:support into the address bar, press enter, then copy that data.
Please start a new thread with it.
Tyler, tell me what you're looking for in that data, it's got personal info in it, i'm not putting that on the web
There isn't any personal days in about:support, it's technical troubleshooting information about Firefox.
If there is something you feel is personal, delete whatever word you're worried about
