Replace the Thunderbird Document Icon with another
They say you cannot please all the people all of the time - I detest the THUNDERBIRD DOCUMENT Icon - the blue bird sat on top of an envelope! - I hanker after a simpler and less 'in your face' icon to adorn my Emails that I have saved - it seems that the icon has even taken over the Windows Mail Icon that for so long I had accepted on all my saved emails - is there a simple uncomplicated way of replacing The Bird and have it put down and replaced with something more, well, "discreet" ? I am happy with Thunderbird as a mail programme, I just want the Bird Icon humanely disposed of and replace for past, present and future saved emails - can it be (easily) done?? Richard H

I suggest you get used to it. Whatever the default mail clients default icon is is the one Windows will use.
You can change the defaults using the registry https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/hh127427%28v=vs.85%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396 but that is something I want nothing to do with. It is not a simple as the article makes out.
