everytime i open thunderbird, i get a message saying twc server did not respond, or timed out or various messages meaning it did not connect. Is there a reason why thunderbird has so much trouble connecting with time warner serviders. running windows 10, imap settings ports 143 and 587 no connection security (ssl/tls, starttls) thanks

tried without your anti virus program scanning email.... that is the number one cause of email connectivity problems. even more so than incorrect settings.
