When i Tag emails as important after tagging 3 to 4 of them the tag dissapears off the email
I had to reintall thunderbird due to a computer crash and now when I'm checking email and tagging them red they disappear after tagging 3 to 4 emails.

Close Thunderbird and make sure it is closed.
Erase the MSF file for that folder and try again
it is under C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\YourProfile\
Mail or ImapMail folder, your account subfolder
There is a file with no extension. That is your folder with the e-mail info in it. Then there is another with the MSF extension that is the index of the other file. It sometimes gets corrupted and anything can happen.
I deleted the .msf file and the tag still disappears after a short period of time
Then it is far beyond my knowledge.
Are you talking about an imap mail account?
Do you only download headers or have you selected the option to 'keep messages for this account on this computer' in the Account Settings > Synchronization & Storage' section?
Have you noticed if the Tags disappear after account or folder synchronises with server?
For example - if you go into offline mode then apply tags to several emails and wait for a good while, do you notice the tags appear intact? Then go into online mode - what happens to the tags?
