Can't send email with a thread containing several links. Have ruled out antivirus sofware.
When I try to send an email that has a thread containing several links, such as an email exchange with someone, it will freeze on send and eventually time out. The links are primarily my own web site and email address. It gets to say 36% and stop. If I delete some of the thread it will get to a bigger percentage and stop. If I delete all but the last message or so it will then go out. Since this would seem to be caused by something scanning my email I assumed it was my Antivirus software; but with that completely turned off, same problem. I see another similar question on your help list but with no solution.
I am using Windows 7

Perhaps your provider is scanning mail?
I usually use my website provider as an outgoing email server. I have also tried sending it out through my internet provider (AT&T) and have the exact same symptoms. Seems to me that it is being scanned and stopped before it goes out so they wouldn't even see it yet?
To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try one of the following:
- Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
- Restart the operating system in safe mode with Networking. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX
- If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.
Matt, I had high hopes your last suggestions would solve the problem; but they didn't unfortunately. Today I formulated a new theory. My email signature goes out as text. Use html & attach a file boxes are not checked. But sometimes a reply comes back with a photo and little piece of hype attached from my web site. I wondered, how did that get there? Today I learned it was attached to an initial outgoing mail that I sent out. Perhaps when there is a thread with a few of my signatures in it, the email is somehow trying to attach this thing?? I guess I better go to my web site provider and see if there is a setting there that might explain it.
