Under local folders: I have several folders to store emails. A few of these folders have migrated to become sub folders of others. How do I get the folders out from under and back to alphabetical order? Dragging doesn't work, it just makes another sub folder. I'm not sure how this happened in the first place but would like to know how to avoid this problem in the future and how to fix it. Thank you.

Chosen solution

drag works only if you drop into the parent folder.

so if the folder was a child of "Local Folders" and is now a child of brown Fox, You must drag it to "Local Folders" not some spot in a list of your choosing.

Drag and drop usually works for me.

I use an add-on that stops me accidentally moving folders. It's easy when moving messages to drag a folder by mistake.

Did any of your folders have names with slashes in them? I've seen people try something like "cinema/theatre" and the slash is treated as making theatre a subfolder or a file in a folder named cinema.

Drag and drop doesn't work. It either doesn't move or drops as a different sub folder. No slashes in the folder names. One or two words for names.

Matt, thank you so much. I figured it was something basic just couldn't figure it out on my own. Your help is much appreciated.
