I am posting this question as this seems to be the only way to register. I need to post a reply to another forum topic that asks all readers that have observed the 'Urgent Firefox Update' malware, to add to the thread with the URL and the apparent URL that is hosting the malware.

How about a link to register without posting a question to do it? (at this point, I see my new ID above, but I also see a red progress line, and the 'confirm registration' is still ahead (apparently incomplete), so I don't know if I am now registered, or if I have to complete this unnecessary question posting...)

I will check my email too. OK, I see my confirmation (so I assume I can reply now). I guess I will post this anyway, to let you know the confusion encountered if a user wishes to join an existing thread/topic.

(You could put a registration option in the sign-in function, and you could include a rules and terms in that process).

Mr KL PS, I now found the note at the bottom of the thread of interest that tells me to post (ask) a question if I am not registered. - so maybe you want to keep it this way to control thread hijacking?

Registering while you ask your first question makes it so you get introduced to the knowledge base which may answer your question(s). It also makes it so you ask in a new thread vs trying to get help in a existing thread on same or similar subject.

Mozilla is looking to change from this Kitsune forum and KB software to a Lithium forum software. Not sure what the registering process will be like for new accounts then at moment.

Thanks Fred and James.

You both gave me key facts that helped me. I was able to reply in other posts after only going half-way thru this post submission. (although, I can't remember if I could post before or only after the confirmation email reply...)
