Which version/build number for Windows 8.1 was current at 26 July 2016, and can I roll back to it to restore a backup before upgrading TB to the now version?
Trying to reinstall an email back-up (using Bullguard back up facility) taken 26 July 2016, and I'm wondering whether the failure to restore is caused by having a different version of TB installed.
Chosen solution
It should not matter if the version was 38 or 42 or 45 etc as they will all work using the same profile name folder.
Could you be more explicit regarding info on your backup. What exactly is backed up?
This is where the Thunderbird profile name is located:
- C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\<Profile name>\
Usually, you would backup the profile name folder, which is usually called 'xxxxxxx.default' where the x's are letters and numbers. This would contain all your mail accounts, emails, address books, preferences etc
The profile name folder would typically contain a load of files and folders that will be similar to those in the image below.
Or did you back up only the mbox files or perhaps emails as separate .eml files?
Can you provide images showing what you have got backed up?
