Can't find bookmarks dropdown menu?

I've held off on updating Firefox from 28 to latest due to several reasons, one of them being the Chrome-like look that hurts my eyes (just don't ask). Thankfully, the CTR was created and I finally updated to version 34. And I am not happy at all. There is an icon for the bookmarks SIDEBAR, but not the dropdown menu. There are also 2 icons for the history sidebar and history dropdown, so why is the bookmarks dropdown missing? I much prefer the dropdown menu and would like to get it back.

I really don't understand why Mozilla is no longer user-friendly. That was the very reason why I started using Firefox in the first place and I have been very loyal for years. I'm tempted to throw my laptop against the wall and give up ever coming back online because of this nonsense about 'sleek looks'. I would appreciate if someone could help me find the dropdown menu and allow me to forget being angry.

Thank you.

Yep, you're looking for the button I attached in my last message. Open Customise mode again and look for the star icon which is labelled "Bookmarks". Drag that one to your toolbar, and it will turn into two icons - one is a star (which can be used to quickly bookmark the page you're on), and the other opens the bookmarks popup.

The bookmarks dropdown menu is still there. It sounds like it might not be in your toolbar though. Try this:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu
  • At the bottom of the menu, click "Customise"
  • Find the Bookmarks option and drag it to your Firefox toolbar
  • Click "Exit Customise"

Yes, I've searched every icon available in the customize window. I've searched every option in CTR. There was nothing in either. There is a second bookmarks icon that looks similar to the history dropdown icon, but instead of a dropdown, it's a "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" that pretty much gives me a bookmarks toolbar. Not what I'm looking for...

Can I just confirm that this toolbar button is the one you're looking for but can't find? Bookmarks-29

I'm not entirely sure. The one from FF28 is the one I attached. I've never seen the versions after 28. The icon for the bookmarks sidebar is the exact same as the attached, but without the arrow to the side.

Well, that's a frustrating bug. I was already using that button, but if you use the CTR option to join the star to the nav bar, the 2nd icon disappears, since both icons are joined into 1 button...

Thank you for your help. I didn't realize they were separate icons in 1 button.
