Use the Firefox Sidebar to access bookmarks, history, passwords and synced tabs

Firefox comes with a convenient Sidebar button which lets you access your bookmarks, history, passwords and synced tabs in one click. This article shows you how to use this feature.

Toggle the Sidebar on and off

  1. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and select Settings (or Preferences, in some cases).Click the menu button Fx89menuButton and select Settings. Firefox Settings tab will open.
  2. Scroll down to the Browser Layout section and select Show sidebarScroll down to the Tabs and browsing panel, go to the Browser layout section, and check the Show sidebar option.

After you enable the Firefox sidebar, a sidebar button Fx136SidebarIcon is added to your toolbar. The sidebar with shortcuts to tools is shown on the left; you can move it to the right.

To hide and bring the sidebar back into view, click the sidebar button in the toolbar Fx136SidebarIcon.

Move the Sidebar to the left or right

The Sidebar shows up on the left by default, but you can also move it to the right.

  1. Right-clickRight-click (or hold down the Control key while you click) the Sidebar Fx136SidebarIcon button.
  2. Select Customize Sidebar from the menu.
  3. In the Sidebar settings panel, check Move Sidebar to the right.
