I left outlook and chose tbird with cardbook. I am not happy with it. When I choose "new message" I get a blank form and can choose an individual addressee but do not have the option of addressing I group I created. My contacts are in google with supposed cardbook coordination. I think your contact list is interferring with the cardbook data. This is a kluge. How do I fix it

I deleted an old email address for a friend, but every time I email her, the auto-complete feature includes both the current email address and the one for her old job. I've deleted that one, and it doesn't seem to show up in the Address Book anywhere, so why does it keep coming up in the auto-complete?
It's annoying to me and to the place of employment to have the emails go to the wrong address when I'm not watching very carefully.
How can I make sure this doesn't happen again?

Hello, the address auto-completion is working in the desktop version but not in the Android app. When I start typing an email address, no suggested contacts appear. I haven’t given the app permission to access my phone contacts, but it should still suggest addresses I’ve previously emailed or received messages from. I’m surprised there aren't more questions about this topic — maybe it's just an issue with my device? Thanks for your support. Best regards.

Recently, I exported my Address Books, i.e., Personal and Collected as CSV files. Looking through those files I discovered that not all "Fields" from the Address Book had been included during export. Some of my contacts include three or four email addresses. The CSV Header added to the top of my exports only shows "Primary Email" and "Secondary Email" in the Header. There may also be other Fields of information that are not exported, but I haven't looked and, frankly, didn't expect to have to check my exported files. When editing a Contact if that contact has more than two email address I expected those to be part of the export file. I am running the current version of Thunderbird on my Windows 11 computer and an earlier version on a Windows 7 computer. Both versions of Thunderbird do not export all Field Data from the Address Books.

I tried importing my Outlook Classic address book. As you can see from the attachment, I really messed it up!. I am not technical at all, I wasn't sure if I needed to import my contacts or my address book. I think, but am not really sure, that I exported my .pst file, address book to a csv vile. Can anyone one straighten me out? If I have to start over, how do I delete the mess I created without loosing all of my other settings? Thank you very much 😊😊😊

I am using TB 140.9.0esr (64-bit) on Kubuntu 25.10 but this has been true for some years. Mostly when a start a new Email address whether in the To:, cc: or bcc: fields TB does a very good guess after a few letters about the address I want. However, every so often, perhaps 5% of the time it will pick the correct person but I won't notice that it has picked an old address for that person. It seems to happen in bursts, so three times in the last few hours for two different addressees. I realise that I could shift the old addresses for people to the notes section of the address book but I would rather not as I am hoping that one day TB will have the ability to search for all Emails to/from someone across all the addresses they ever had, current or deceased. Is there a way you can stop TB suddenly changing its guesses about the addresses for a person? Or could you add a way to tell TB in the address book that addresses are dead and should never be offered as addresses to send to?
TIA,
Chris

I run TBD 140.8.0 esr (64 bit) under Debian 12 Linux. Until recently I could automatically enter a special address from the pertaining addressbook, this does not work anymore. helpfiles do not show a solution thus I am here.
The addressbook is full of addresses however I have to transfer a special address via past and copy into the addressfield of the mail I want to send.
Thanks for a quick answer Jörg Kampmann
