Hi folks!

My Firefox just updated and I'm now receiving the recommended stories (along with the widgets and recent activity.) when I open a New Tab. I was able to disable the widgets and activity and I see the place where I can turn off the Stories, but they are not going away.

In the "Customize" menu accessible via the pencil icon on the New Tab page, toggling Stories off does not make them go away; reloading the page, the toggle is re-enabled.

In the general Settings menu, accessible via the hamburger menu and under "Home and startup," I have Stories ("Exceptional content curated by the Firefox family") toggled off. The toggle does not reset, but the stories still display.

How can I fix this? Thank you all very much in advance.

I'm trying to remove the "recommended stories" section of the new tab page. Using the pencil button, I can toggle off the "recommended stories" button. But it doesn't stay off! After toggling off, if I open a new tab or even relaunch Firefox, the toggle is back on.

It appears the new update in Firefox has glitched my settings. Everytime I try to disable it on the homepage, and I reload it, it just turns itself back on. Settings not on the homepage does not help either. Nothing appears to work, although it has been working for many years until today.

I've been relying on the checklist widget - but it has disappeared, along with my other timer & weather widgets. I see no way to get them back, either in Firefox settings or in the home page settings either.

I click on the website page and scan through things then close that website. Then I get on the search engine page an icon of that website I just looked through added onto the search page as an icon. I do not want this. I know how to add websites I frequently visit so its not that. It must be a setting somewhere in my Firefox settings. How do I switch this off?

I do not like the clutter of a score of articles chosen by AI on my home page. I only want a blank page the same shade of green I had before with the shortcuts I actually use. Your sponsors may give you money, but I'm not clicking on any except to get rid of them.

How can I get my clean hompage back?

I opened Firefox this morning and all of my pinned shortcuts have disappeared. Shortcuts are enabled in the settings. I checked the browser.newtabpage.pinned pref on the about:config and all of my pinned shortcuts are not there

Since the 153.0 update, the shortcut algorithm has dramatically worsened. First, it assigned too much weight and too sensitive to the recent visits, such that all of the top row in shortcuts are populated with random recent visited websites even though they are likely would never be visited again. Second, neither 'dismiss' or 'delete from history' would clear those unwanted shortcuts. Each shortcut seem to be on the URL level, not the domain. As a result I can never clear those random recently visited domains as I have to delete each single URL I visited. Please revert the algorithm to pre-152.

hello On the browser's home page, because the wallpaper is used, the search tool does not allow the image to be seen properly. How can I change the location of the search tool so that the full image can be seen? Thanks - Heidari

Where is a link, icon, or ANY WAY to add a shortcut site to my Ubuntu FF **DESKTOP** homescreen?

I already have 4 rows (since 2013 over many Linux laptops. Ubuntu, Mint, popOS, and now Ubuntu 26.04 LTS).

There is room in the fourth row for a few more. BUT I don't see any icon or link or right-click option to add another!

Phrasing the article search various ways gets me a lot of unrelated stuff.

EVERY help article, of which there are few, seems to have a BIG-ASSumption that everyone is using mobile Firefox.

NO! NO three dots. No right click brings up anything. NOTHING in settings. I've been through everything in the 3-bar menu, and there is NOTHING. (I already use it to sync, go to OTHER settings, go to help, etc.)

This is a day after an update, though I don't know how that affects it.

Usually if I forget how I did something, I just explore and find it. BUT --

My way of adding new shortcuts seems to be GONE.

I'm trying to add the world cup tracker to my home screen, but when i click the link, it just puts me in my new tab page with no changes. When I click the pencil edit icon, widgets are not an option for me. Is there a place I need to enable them?

I decided to switch back to "mainline". Opened Firefox after a while. Got a prompt to change my new tab wallpaper, I said no.

Closed and reopened Firefox. Then my new tab page was besmirched with "soccer" score nonsense.

What hidden/non-obvious setting do I need to change to have ALL of this and ANYTHING EVEN REMOTELY LIKE IT off FOREVER? I will never EVER want ANY suggestions for ANYTHING for the rest of time. I turned everything I could think of, including the labs or whatever off but this still came up.

Firefox uses firefox icon instead of website icon. Can change it thru properties/change icon but every time i make a shortcut i have to change it if i want the right one.

I have two windows PCs, both running Firefox 154.0.1 (64-bit) on Windows 11 Pro. One PC has the Daily Crossword widget, the other doesn't? When I go into Manage Widgets, the Daily Crossword option is present on the first PC, but not the other? It's possible that I may have hidden the Daily Crossword widget on the second PC, but if so, how do I unhide it? The PC without the widget is connected directly via a LAN cable to my router, while the other PC is connected to the same router via a Google WiFi mesh.
