Firefox has always been my workhorse for my business, but after the last update, I can no longer open Firefox on more than one desktop on my Mac. Firefox requires me to designate either a specific desktop to open Firefox on--or to open it on all desktops. This doesn't work for me because on each desktop I open a different site on Firefox. I will no longer be using Firefox for work, and since I was using Firefox because of what I perceived were stronger security measures, I am very disappointed. I really wish software engineers would stop "innovating" and fixing things that are not broken.

This may be a small issue but it's pretty bothering, I do understand that the web app as of now is primarily to be pinned at the taskbar, but would this be done in the start menu in the future? I mainly keep my apps at the start menu for my convenience.

Basically the problem here is the shortcut icon, so take this Messenger web app as an example. If I pin this to taskbar, or even make a desktop shortcut, it's showing the correct icon, it's also in the start menu but unpinned. However, when I pin it to the start menu, in the app catalog, it changes to the Firefox icon (for some reason the one on the taskbar sometimes does that as well).

I've tried looking into the Properties tab of the shortcut, but apparently it's already set to the Messenger icon, so I'm guessing it's primarily the start menu problem.

Is there a way to completely opt out of having AI in my browser?

I find recent implementations of AI in Firefox quite frankly disgusting. I don't want to see it, I don't want to use it, I don't want it suggested to me. Not only it's unneeded, but also all your LLMs are a waste of electricity, fresh water and are a threat to my privacy, and we don't even mention all the legal trouble AI scraping creates.

I need a switch to completely remove any mention of LLMs/AIs in my Firefox browser unless I search for it on the internet (and, trust me, I wont; I'd prefer to continue thinking for myself and having real people with skills and talents do things if I can't do them myself) and have none of them touch me in any way. Kill that thing with fire.

Ideally Firefox, one that advertises itself as a secure browser with respect towards its users, shouldn't have any mention of AI in the first place, you know. But since companies are in a craze about it for some unknown reason (trust me, we don't want it; if I want to be lied to, I'd go to a paediatrician to talk about my symptoms, not a language model I can't trust with my data), at least give your users an option to get that awful thing out of their browser it they want to.

Have a nice day. <3

How can I turn off tab previews reliably?

I was going to random name generator sites yesterday and I went to one that is called www.behindaname.com and it 'dropped' a web app into my firefox browser somehow. I am running version 143.0.1

Now, there is an icon in the taskbar, right in the address box between toggle reader view and bookmark this page. When you hover over it, it drops a popup message "add tab to taskbar".

In my Windows 10 menu, it shows under recently added on the start menu, as "behindaname"

If you right click on this and click on 'open file location' it opens a directory "C:\Users\Steve\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Firefox Web Apps" and in this directory is behindaname and under file type .lnk

If you right click on the recently added on start menu "behindaname", and select uninstall, it opens up the Windows 10 uninstall menu, but it isn't listed in there anywhere.

if you rightclick that behindaname.lnk and click on properties, under Target : it gives "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" "-taskbar-tab" "b3fa7206-2a6c-4b7b-9427-c051524970ed" "-new-window" "https://www.behindaname.com" "-profile" "C:\Users\Steve\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\1ippdfls.default-release" "-container" "0"

I would just delete the link, but since it is putting that icon on my taskbar and it is giving that target, it is hiding somewhere. I am just not up to speed on web apps and other browser malware, at least I consider it browswer malware, to know what is going on and how to completely get rid of it. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thank you, Steve

I am getting exhausted with Firefox changing my configurations when updating. I always turn off automatic update for all software I use. I even turn off Windows updates. These updates always break something I regularly use and offer me little if anything that improves my experience.

Recently, the update modified my configurations to allow automatic updating. So I had to turn that off. A recent update removed the simple "!gm" shortcut to Google Maps. I had to create a new shortcut for Google Maps so I could type into the URL bar something like "!gm Missouri" to get the map to display. It wasn't displaying before this and returned search results like "General Motors". Ugh.

Can't Firefox stop updating my configurations and making life difficult for me?

When my internet goes out and I check if it's back up by opening Firefox, if it's not back up then all the tabs from the previous session get lost if I close the browser. None of my other browsers do this; they all open with the previous session. This is a major issue, because I lose hours of work each time.
