Before the update whenever I x'ed out of firefox there would be a button that restored my previous session on my homepage.

That's gone.

I can still restore it from my history but I prefer using the homepage button because it's more reliable.

Is there a way to get it back?

Hello kacy12

You can restore it going to the options> the General> type your homepage you require.

You'll find much more helping setting there.

I'm sorry if I phrased my question poorly.

I'm not asking how to get my homepage back, I'm asking how to get the restore session button back on the mozilla default page.

That button is only present on the about:home page.

Is your home page still set to about:home?

If "History > Restore Previous Session" is still available and not grayed then you should see that button on the about:home page.

You can check browser.sessionstore.* prefs including browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash on the about:config page and reset browser.sessionstore prefs that are user set (bold) via the right-click context menu to the default value to make sure that Session Restore is enabled and working properly.

"Is your home page still set to about:home?"

Yes it is.

"If "History > Restore Previous Session" is still available and not grayed then you should see that button on the about:home page. "

It doesn't show up.

I never changed any settings in about:config. It says that it should be working.

After I updated my browser on 10/30 I opened it and got a grey screen. I used the session restore a few more times from the home page but after a few tries the button was gone.

Thank you for your help and patience.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Never remember history).

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"

This is bizarre, I rebooted my computer a number of times yesterday to make sure that the problem wasn't a 1 time only thing and the button never appeared.

But I turned my computer on this morning and everything is now working fine.

I wasn't overheating or anything like that but now it works.

Thank you for your patience and help.
