Installed Thunderbird 145 (64 bit) on my windows laptop and didn't add any add-ons or theme! I moved from outlook to thunderbird hoping to have a better experience. Aside connecting thunderbird to the mail server, I also converted my former .pst email file into thunderbird file so that I can have access to my former emails. I have problems with some emails that keep cropping in my mail box even though I delete them!! I keep removing them and / Or putting them in the trash but they keep coming!!!

My emails go out and in successively but this problem is giving me a headache and increasing the trash folder. Troubleshooting mode seems to fix it, but as soon as I restart thunderbird, those recurring emails come back!! pls advise what to do next??

Before, I had to enter only the mail adress with password. Now, a double authentification with Microsoft Authenticator is required; but no mobile terminal is dedicated to this mail box so I cannot have access anymore. Do you have a solution ?

Copying thousands of emails to local folders and to IMAP folders in Gmail

I have have had a Gmail address for a few years and have just created a new Gmail address, I am trying to copy about 20,000 emails from the original Gmail IMAP folders to local Thunderbird folders as a backup, and then copy them to the new Gmail address IMAP folders.

I have tried copying these in smaller amounts as suggested (between 200 and 500 at once) This seems to go well, however, when I have completed the task the original folder has a much higher amount of messages in it than the new one, so some messages are being lost along the way.

Is there a reliable method to do this, such as closing Thunderbird and then copying and pasting data held in the profile folder, or does it need to be done with Thunderbird running?

Without warning (and without any settings checked to do this) Thunderbird moved all my 2025 emails that were in the main Inbox (not in subfolders) to Archives within the Local Network section. This moved them off the server, so for me they effectively disappeared and I can't access them on my phone, New messages are now coming into the Inbox. It seemed to happen very quickly and suddenly with no warning. I am trying to move them back to the Inbox, but it is time consuming and unsafe and I do not know why it happened. It coincided with messages about Thunderbird needing to compact messages - something I hadn't yet agreed to and that message is still coming up. Thanks in advance of help.

I have had a recurring problem of emails that have been read and moved into a folder for organization/safe keeping purposes being marked as unread again. This seems to be totally random as far as I can tell and we are talking about hundreds of emails. This might also be emails in my sent folder. I've just been selecting them and marking them as read, but this has been going on for months. It's not all the emails in that folder either, just some. I don't get it! Can you help?

There is an old question just like this here and the answer doesn't work for me.

I would like to see my tasks appear on my calendar ie a task due on the 26th should show up alongside any appointments I have in that date slot. Google Calendar does this.

The answer to the question linked to above says to use View - Calendar - Current View - Tasks in view

I have those options and I tried them. Nothing. I have a task with a date and time on it and I am looking in the calendar for the right date and I don't see it. Is this feature still working? Is there something else I need to do to turn it on?

Quote: "Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Non-Compliant sender address. Code : -1. Please check the message and try again."

I can send and receive email using this address from my Android phone or from my Windows eMail client, so why is Thunderbird causing this? I have looked through all the setting and cannot find anything different from the settings for the @gmail accounts.

Using Thunderbird 140.5.0esr (64-bit) email program, can not send emails. Get message: Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: Connection from 69.119.30.125 refused. Have multiple email accounts - all get same response. Have tried several computers -all get same response. Can receive emails with no problem. I have spent several hours with my service provider [Optimum] checking/changing Server settings to no avail. They claim all my settings are correct and say the problem is not on their end. On the Optimum website email – I can send emails with no problem. I installed Outlook and set it up to the same servers and can send emails from there so it would seem Thunderbird is the problem.

Running WIN10 on 1 machine, WIN11 on another. Both same issue

How can I duplicate below in TB / BetterBird ?

We all know and see from left side of TB / BettreBird open app screen is the list of email accounts one has. In Outlook 2016 and onwards one can add just the Inbox of each mail account I have to a list called 'Favourites' and this resides above all the mail accounts and displays as a list of all the 'Inboxes' only. This means I just have to click on each respective inbox an it displays just that....all the mails in the Inbox. Currently I just have the list of account names where, when a mail is received and the corresponding circled number of mails shown I have to open the account to see the drop down then select the Inbox to get to the list of emails.

I am sure I am missing the solution.

An alternative method for manual transfer between Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers

This section assumes you have a default Windows installation and will work on computers upgraded to Windows 10 from previous Windows versions.

   Locate the master profile folder on the source computer as above.
   Locate the master profile folder on the destination computer as above.
   Note out of interest that your username (indicated by ~ below) on the two computers might be different due to legacy issues, but it will make no difference with a manual transfer as below.
   Close Thunderbird in both computers.
   On the source computer, copy the Thunderbird folders in both Windows(C:)/Users/~/AppData/Roaming and Windows(C:)/Users/~/AppData/Local to your transfer media, in separate folders so you do not overwrite them.
   On the destination computer, remove (or rename if you need a data backup or to preserve an old profile) any Thunderbird folders in the destination folders Windows(C:)/Users/~/AppData/Roaming and Windows(C:)/Users/~/AppData/Local directories.
   Copy from your transfer media the correct Thunderbird folders into the two folders above to replace the ones you have removed or renamed.
   Restart Thunderbird on the destination computer and test it, noting that your inbox tab should be identical to source, but that other tabs may have opened with Thunderbird messages.

Then Thunderbird asks for a new password. When I enter the still correct password, it displays the same error message. I did not change anything in the settings before this error message popped up. They pop up in Troubleshooting Mode. They did not in Windows Safe Mode. AVG and ZoneAlarm are not the culprits.
