My bookmarks menu only shows ten bookmarks, but I make many more so how do I find them all on my macbook.
Firefox happily informs us that after ten bookmarks in a folder the oldest one is dropped off - however I keep dozens of bookmarks, all of which used to be kept in one long list on my firefox menu. I can find no information as to how I find the sites that have been dropped off. How can I now find old bookmarks when I have forgotten the name of the site

hello englishnick, all your bookmarks are stored in the library - for an introduction to bookmarks in firefox please refer to Bookmarks in Firefox.
Note bookmarks may be viewed from
- the bookmarks icon (or menubar)
- the side bar
- the library (that allows sorting; and more columns, also with backup options etc & drag and drop)
- the bookmarks toolbar (that may have multiple bookmarks or nested folders, as do the other options) But the toolbar only displays part of the Library content.
Note there will be little arrow heads when things get too big to fit on screen madperson's link gives more information on how to use all this.
- "Most Visited" and "Recently Bookmarked" and "Recent Tags" are examples of so called Smart Bookmarks folders and are not real existing folders.
- Such smart folders show a list created by a query of the places.sqlite database that stores the bookmarks and the history in Firefox.
- Smart folder lists show a maximum of 10 entries by default.
- Bookmarks or history items that show up in a smart folder list are stored elsewhere in another folder and any changes made are applied to the real bookmark or history item.
You can also open the bookmarks in the sidebar (View > Sidebar > Bookmarks) to have easier access.
