Text doesn't show in dialogue box on webpage until I leave the dialogue box

more options

For example:

At http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&profile=default&search=&fulltext=Search

I type in the search box. I can't see any text, but I can see suggestions below the box.

I tab away from the search box--now I can see the text.

If I return to the search box, I can still see the text.

If I delete the text and type again, I can't see the text until I tab away.

That is the problem.

You indicated that if you disable all add-ons, the text appears as expected. Do any of your extensions seem related to filling forms? You might try disabling all nonessential extensions, restarting Firefox, and seeing whether that resolves it.

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions category

If you tested using Firefox's Safe Mode, one of the other features of that mode is that hardware acceleration of graphics is disabled. You can set that manually under:

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced > General

You generally need to restart Firefox before the change takes effect.

Any luck?

Thank you for your suggestions. I'm sorry, what I wrote was misleading. I wrote:

It appears when I try disabling all addons.

I should have said:

The problem is still there when I disabled all addons.

Aha, thank you for clarifying.

It's hard to think of a good reason for text in the control to be white on a white background. Does this happen on all text inputs with a white background?

What are your Windows 7 display settings? Firefox sometimes has problems with "High Contrast" themes, perhaps others.
