Had an issue over 2 weeks ago after phone line repair, all inbox messages gone, like 1200 odd, no incoming messages at all, can send them OK. I have tried many suggested fixes including deleting the account, deleting the password (which may not match my provider but has been working for the last 8 months since joining Thunderbird), this suggestion said that when I restarted Thunderbird it would ask for a new password but it did not. I have deleted the account no change, deleted the program no changed, re installed Thunderbird no change, and the folders in the account are still there. Do I try an Uninstall then start all over again. I am a bit (a lot) frustrated and am considering switching to something else, but I like the Thunderbird layout and would love to solve it. Is there something that may be switched on that stops it doing it's thing. I need help please Neil R

I don't understand how the two things are related to each other. Can you explain?

suggestion said that when I restarted Thunderbird it would ask for a new password

Thunderbird will only prompt you for a password when it can reach the server. So your problem is more likely related to wrong server settings.

I have deleted the account no change

That implies you also recreated the account. It wouldn't hurt to clearly explain what you did. How did you create the account? Using the new account wizard and let Thunderbird automatically detect the server settings? Or manual configuration?

deleted the program no changed

I have no idea why people seem to love wasting their time re-installing the program. Thunderbird separates the program installation from the user data (the profile). Your problem is almost certainly related to the profile.

and the folders in the account are still there

That is because re-installing the program doesn't touch the profile.

Do I try an Uninstall then start all over again.

Didn't you do that already by deleting and re-creating the account?

no incoming messages at all

Check with your email provider about the correct settings for the incoming server: protocol - POP or IMAP security - none, SSL/TLS, STARTTLS port

Post that information here.

Also please post your Troubleshooting Information. At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button , then select Help > Troubleshooting Information. Press the Copy text to clipboard button and paste the information into your reply.
