Sound Problem in Firefox 31

more options

The problem described in this thread (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/989180#question-reply) is also present in version 31 on a Lenovo T540p.

Even using with NO addons it behaves the same and it's the only application to do so.

I'm trying to replace Chrome with Firefox but this bug makes using Firefox a bit annoying for me...

What to do if Firefox won't play any sounds and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Plugin-container_and_out-of-process_...

It may be a plugin, but is the audio is not working for one application. Default sound devices on the operating are set for the headphones? Playback devices > sound options

Sound works fine plugging and unplugging earphones on EVERY SINGLE OTHER application I've tried, from games to other browsers. It's just Firefox that doesn't "play nice" here... As for plugins, I've already tried a CLEAN install on a clean local account I created just for that and the same thing happens...

Please check the operating system's Sound manager. It is called Volume Mixer. Tyler pointed out to me that http://mingersoft.com/blog/2011/01/adjust-and-mute-volume-for-individua... as well as that Firefox and flash should be set to use the primary audio channel in the same Video Mixer.

Has this already been tried?

Firefox is listed on both devices and it works on any of those devices (internal speakers and headphones). - If I start firefox with my headphones unplugged, all sound from FF comes from the internal speakers, as expected; same happens with every single other application. - If I start firefox with my heaphones plugged, again, all sound from FF comes from the headphones as expected as with all other applications; - The only difference is WHAT happens when I plug or unplug the headphones, as FF is *THE* only application that does not handle that until I restart it. Every other application, browser, game, you name it, handles this correctly.

In case it helps, my system is a Lenovo T540p running Windows 8.1 Professional w/ the following Audio Devices listed:

- Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio)
- Realtek HD Audio 2nd output (Realtek High Definition Audio)
- Speaker/HP (Realtek High Definition Audio)

I'm going to try one more thing but need to close the browser for that: be right back.

Back. Apparently, reloading the page after (un)plugging the headphones is enough to make it acknowledge the change, but it's still inconvenient as I'll have to reload the music, say, in Google Play or YouTube or whatever site I was using w/ audio playback...
