So one of my Thunderbird profiles stopped being able to send emails. Hit the send button and nothing happens. One of my accounts in same folder is greyed out.

I have tried reinstalling, cleaning up profile, rebuilding folders. Updating did not work and I think that may have broke it (versioun 91.2 x32)

Restarted with no add ons, checked language. Tried a different SMTP server, nothing works. No error at all. Windows 10 64

Check the profile for read only files.

Or shut down Thunderbird right click the profile folder in windows file manager, select properties and once it has done telling you how many files there are click on the read only enter at the bottom until is shows blank Restart Thunderbird.

I tried this and it did not resolve. If I create new profile, it works fine, if I revert to 78.14 it works fine.

Well as we have no version of Thunderbird to diagnose I will move on.

@matt,

I listed the version I am having issues with? Or do you not have thunderbird to help with the issue?

Version 91

I have Thunderbird 91 on windows 10 and have no issues. So unless there is software on your device to fix and is accessible then there is nothing to attempt to fix. I can not replicate your apparent issue and oyu can not replicate in on 78. Therefore there is nothing that can be done.

How would you be any help for an issue that is specific to a persons profile ? What do you mean by this?

This morning I encountered the same problem. I'm on 91.2.0 x32 (Win 10). The strange thing is that it we updated to 91 on October 9. We could send fine all week using 91 until this morning on October 18. We haven't added any add-ons or done anything, it just wouldn't send when we came into the office this am. No error msg, nothing. The send button is not grayed out - but pressing it or selecting send now from the menu does nothing at all.

also, when I go to my address book it is all blank. If I create a new address book I don't see it listed and adding a new contact to an address book does not result in a dialog window box popping up. Something is goofy with the address book files. Moving the address book data files out of the folder doesn't help. Thunderbird will create new address book files, like it should, but I still can't see the address books, can't add an address, etc.

Very strange.

Apparently, there is nobody with experience to troubleshoot this issue on these forums unless they have experienced the exact same issue.

An alternative is to create a new profile and test for normal functionality.

Yes, I did that, this was my post from a few days ago

This also happened to me after I got upgraded to Thunderbird 91.2.1. The fix that I found in another discussion was to remove the pab.na2 file. This also fixed the problem of my Address Book being empty, which also occurred after the upgrade.
