I am trying to reload firefox onto my computer that uses windows 8.1. I have had the browser on here for years. I have tried to download from numerous sites & it keeps getting stuck in download mode or I get message that windows is blocking. I have never had this problem before. It appears that Windows in trying to block me from using firefox now & forcing me to use internet explorer, which I do not want to use, or Google Chrome.

Please help

Yes: click on pub > firefox > releases > 40.0.2 > win32, click on the folder corresponding to your language then select the Firefox Setup 40.0.2.exe file (not "Stub").

The direct download link for Firefox 40.0.2 in American English is: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/40.0.2/win32/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%2040.0.2.exe

Hi, do not download Firefox from anywhere other than mozilla.org since from other download sites it often comes bundled with junk - this is likely to be what is causing your problems.

If you have already done that, it might be a good idea to uninstall and start again - Uninstall Firefox from your computer.

I have clicked on links provided in previous emails. I receive a page with the following info

[DIR] pub/ 21-May-2015 16:20

Anyone know if by clicking on this I can find a file that will allow me to download firefox. Or do I need to go through backdoor as FredMcD suggested? Or is there another file I should be looking for?
