Profile Missing pops up with message "your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." I have reset Firefox before without a problem. This is about the third time.

Can you find your profile?

and refer to "Finding your profile without opening Firefox" part of the article linked above.

Did Firefox move your old profile to the desktop as "Old Firefox Data"?

It is possible that something went wrong with creating or updating the profiles.ini file, but may have created a new profile.

Are there still profiles here:

  • C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

The "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K and the "AppData" folder in Windows Vista and Windows 7 and later versions are hidden folders.

At the end it says to double click the default setting. However I had 2 different ones. Tried them individually and then together but to no avail. In the end set up a new user and profile. Many thanks to those who posted. P.S. Yes it had moved my old data to the desk top, whether that included my profile I could not tell from opening the old folder.
