Does a separate profile have separate addons? I need a 'clean' profile for a particular online contract.
To perform work on a new online contract, it is specified that all existing addons be removed before installing the custom toolbar (to prevent conflicts). Can I create a dedicated profile without addons to do this?

Chosen solution
Yes, a new profile has its own independent set of extensions.
It is however possible that external programs install extensions globally and in that case you may have to disable them manually although current Firefox versions will ask if you want to enable them.
So check out the "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" page to be sure of that.

Alternative: create new user in XP?

Mercy buckets! Haven't tried it yet, but am very glad to hear this is the way things are set up.
Can I selectively transfer just my passwords and cookies to the new profile?

So far so good. Second profile established, limited addons installed, working fine.
