This literally driving me crazy. For the last 2-3 weeks sometimes when I swipe a page to scroll it, the page (tab) is moved to a new window. I'm on a Mac, recently updated to Big Sur. Notable addon installed is treestyletabs. I'm not really in a position to be able to test with add-ons disabled.

You can set browser.tabs.allowTabDetach = false on the about:config page to disable tear-off and prevent moving the file accidentally to a new window.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can click the button to "Accept the Risk and Continue".

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I should know within a few hours if it helped. Although I'd like to determine why this started happening.

Unfortunately that did not help.

I've disabled 3 addons to see if that helps:

  • TST colored tabs
  • copytabtitleURL
  • facebook container
