I got this error message and used this article: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_cannot_be_loaded

It still doesn't seem to work and comes up with the same error. Please help.

Don't rename profiles.ini. When you open it with a text editor, it should contain something similar to this:

[Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/lnlhnhs4.default

"lnlhnhs4.default" is the name of the profile folder in the folder "Profiles". You have a different name. Make sure that the profile name mentioned in profiles.ini is the same as the name of the profile folder. Then it should work.

Note that this can be a problem with the owner and read/write permissions of the Firefox profile folder in both locations used.

Location used for the main profile that keeps your personal data (Root Directory on about:profiles).

  • ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<profile>/

Location used for the disk cache and other temporary files (Local Directory on about:profiles).

  • ~/Library/Caches/Firefox/Profiles/

In Mac OS X v10.7 and later, the ~/Library folder in the Home directory is a hidden folder.
