I'm assuming that you are getting a warning about your connection not being secure? If you are, there are multiple causes for this error message, all of which are outlined in the What do the security warning codes mean? documentation.

If you are concerned about your computer's security, you should scan for malware infections on your computer.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista if you don't already have one. Windows 8/10 have antivirus protection built-in.

Hope this helps.

Can you attach a screenshot of what message you are getting?

When Firefox tells you that a website is not secure, it's not telling you that it has a virus on it. It could be telling you this for any number of reasons, usually because it's has an issue with the security certificate that the website provides or because there is an issue with the way that the website is sending you the data.

I would advise you to take a look at the What do the security warning codes mean? to find out why you are getting this message.

Hi Dave, I think you fixed it yourself.

For future reference:

Avast has a feature called "Web Shield" which sets up as a "man in the middle" to read all your browsing -- for your own good, of course. In order to read secure connections, Avast generates fake website certificates. This causes the error page in Firefox.

Normally Avast sets up Firefox to trust its fake certificates so you don't have to. That might happen automatically at system startup, or if you reinstall Avast after Firefox, or Avast may be watching for new browser installations. Sometimes there's a delay or failure in setting Firefox to trust the middleman, and that's when you see the "all secure sites are insecure" problem.

If you ever see the error page again, you can click the "Advanced" button and click the error code to view a coded version of the untrusted certificate. There are decoding sites to view information in the certificate and see whether it is from Avast or someone else.
