Nice browser. been using for a while, but one problem is annoying. firefox itself doesn't immediately recognize a single mouse click. you either have to click and move the cursor away from the position you clicked, or, alternatively, you have to wait and wait until it "polls" and realizes you have clicked something. can this be fixed?

That's weird, you shouldn't have to do anything special for Firefox to recognize a click. If none of the other suggestions were helpful, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In its Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. (On Mac, hold down the option/alt key instead of the Shift key.)

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • (menu bar) Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement?

Hi, have you checked for any mouse drivers using the info on the bottom of the mouse ?

You can try this : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 61.0.2 with a Full Version Installer

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

"Mouse click" is programmatically a "down and release" action in the same location / element on the screen.

But specific events can be set to work "onmousedown" via JavaScript commands on the webpage. https://www.w3schools.com/jsref/event_onmousedown.asp

Known as "EventListener".

Thank you everybody. Actually I didn't try any of the solutions because no tinkering should be needed. This was very basic. I generally don't play with browser settings at all. I take what comes. So this got solved (must have received an update auto-install). As a result, today the click works as it should, and I also have an immense improvement in my Firefox speed. Thanks a bunch.
