Why does Command-Shift-Delete not work to clear the Firefox 57.0 cache on my Mac?

When I want to clear my Recent History in Firefox 57.0, I can click on History, and then on Clear Recent History, to bring up a pop-up window from which I can select Clear Now: however, clicking on History shows a shortcut to perform this task, Shift-Command-Delete. This shortcut does not usually work for me on my Macbook Pro using OS X 10.13.1. (It did not consistently work for me for previous versions of Firefox, either.) I can find nothing about this on-line or in any forum. Thanks, Rob Piston
