Chosen solution

What file extension do these files have?

Windows hides some file extensions by default. Among them .html and .ini and .js and .txt and you may only see a file name without file extension. You can check the file extension (type) in the properties of the file in Windows/File Explorer via the right-click context menu.

To work with file renaming accurately, please set Windows to show ALL files extensions, not just unfamiliar ones: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions

Then if Firefox saved a file as .htm instead of what it should be (for example, .pdf) you'll have a much easier time renaming the file.
