Websites can tap into a script feature to have you confirm that you want to leave a page. Normal sites tend to do this only when you would lose work by leaving the page. Bad sites may do this to try to trap you on the page. Are you having this problem on a lot of sites?

Also, of course, version 28 is not secure; Mozilla discloses security flaws after each new release.

It is only happening on one site, but I have friends that it is happening to and they don't visit this site.

Would someone please tell me the danger of using an older version of Firefox. Is it going to blow up in my face, take all of my savings from the bank, What is the danger. I don't have anything personal on my PC, I even use an alias.

I like Firefox because of the apps like WOT, adblock plus, no squint, duckduckgo, Ghostery and being able to select colors for the toolbar that makes it easy to read.

The reason I don't want to upgrade: Let me count the reasons. The main reason is they try to force me to use their new versions. They upgrade my FF versions even though I have it set to never. Because they fixed the tool bar so I can't condense it down to one line. and I know there is software that can fix that. When developers add new options why can't they leave the older options.

Also don't put me in the class of not trying new things. I bought my first PC in 1996 and replaced it every time a new OS came out because I wanted to learn it. I kept doing that until W 8 came out. I even bought a laptop so I could see what all the fuss was about. I did see.

Hi Emmar, security vulnerabilities vary in their severity, and whether they will be triggered depends on the sites/content you load. So there's no way to know for sure what might happen, but generally speaking, the major browser vulnerabilities allow an attacker to install anything they want on your computer, spy on everything you do through your browser, and/or take over any accounts you log into. Again, I'm not saying if or when this might happen to you, but that's why security updates are released, to close these holes.

If you want to keep up-to-date with security fixes but preserve an old-timey UI, you could check out the SeaMonkey suite: http://www.seamonkey-project.org/

I have found out that the developer of the site made this happen. It is built into their system. It only happens when we edit our reply then use the back arrow.

About the security issue: I know how to repair my computer when/if it get infected, so I am not worrying about using the older version. I fixed it so FF cannot up date my version 28 of FF. Thanks for trying to help. I knew the answer to my question would go in this direction, but thought I would ask anyway.

For those that write mal-ware, a safe program is a target. That is one reason Mozilla creates better security with each version.

I installed it but the instructions are a little hard to understand. I tested it without changing anything and it still pops up after editing my reply then using the arrow to go back to the list of discussion topics.

Type about:customizing<enter> in the address bar. In the new window, look for the Disallow Script button icon. When you find it, hold down the left button on it, and move it to where you want it to be. I suggest just to the right / left of the address bar.

If your browser gets locked up, just press the icon, and close that tab.

I installed it and put the icon on my add on bar. It works if the M icon is grey out but have to do that every time I need it, so might as well click close on the pop up message.

The site where this is happening is looking into it on their end. Thanks anyway.
