Gmail (technically Google Apps Mail) will work for much of the day, but usually at some point during the day just 'stalls'. I'll see the "Reconnecting in X seconds; Try Now" message.

Clicking Try Now never works. I'll flip to another tab with a different application and it connects and refreshes fine. If I open Chrome and bring up Mail it works fine.

Closing Firefox and re-opening nearly always immediately solves the problem. Occassionally it requires two restarts.

Resetting Firefox, running in Safe Mode, clearing cookies and cache have had no effect.

Wondering if there are any logs I can look at.

Chrome is nice, but I prefer Firefox, and restarting it once or twice a day is mildly annoying.

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
