why are updates always worse then the existing version?

Seem for many years that each Firefox Update is screwing up many things such as the addons stop working or conflicts with extensions, etc etc. Are the Firefox developers really incompetent ? Are the developers being payed enough or are they cheap 3rd world employees? Just wondering why a company such as Mozilla cant do a decent job.
