Thanks for your reply. In using Safari when I have done what you are suggesting, it was like starting all over with a brand new computer. Having to put in all of my passwords again, visiting the sites like banks that did not recognize the computer anymore, etc was a pain in the XXX. I have tried to set Safari to not store cookies on my computer, but that severely limited what websites I could visit and/or stay at for any length of time.

I was hoping since I am new to Firefox that only doing what the webmaster told me to do would not be as severe as eliminating passwords, usernames, cookies, etc, as you have mentioned.

is it possible with Firefox to just do what this person said to do and that is "deleting the temporary Internet/cache files." I do not want to do the full reset that you suggest, I would only like to do this. is this possible with Firefox?

Press SHIFT+CTRL+DEL key you can delete get the option to delete all or particular only, even with Last Hour, Last Two Hour, Last four Hour, Today or Everything.

Yes, command + shift + delete is the keyboard shortcut on Mac to delete recent history.

so should I do it for everything? if I do it for the last hour that will just be the websites I visited for the last hour? I did it for the last hour and I got the beach ball so I had to do a force quit.

what about temporary Internet files? they were not in the list

Firefox calls that the (disk) Cache.

So are you saying if I click clear now that is the same as clearing all the temporary internet files?

I do not see Advanced under Tools in Firefox, if that is what you are saying I should see to get rid of the "cache."

Sorry, I forgot that you are on a Mac, so you need to use Firefox > Preferences instead of the menu path for Windows (Firefox/Tools > Options).

I clicked (under Network) clear but it stayed at 220KB even when I clicked clear.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode.

You can try to remove the cache folder manually on disk if clearing the cache isn't working properly.

You can also check the currently stored cookies.

I get nervous when I do not understand what I am doing. I just know I tried to follow what you said but it did not clear the 220KB (Under Network) in the cache.

Just to be sure that you still have files in the (disk) cache, you can check the current cache usage on the about:cache page, via the location bar.

You can open about:xxxx pages via the location bar like you open a website.

Firefox uses the about: protocol to access internal Firefox (setting) pages.
