will there be a lot of changes to be made if i download firefox??
i am running I.E. 8. if i download firefox too will i have a lot of set-up steps to make, i.e., importing emails, home page set-ups, etc.?

You can get Firefox up and running quite quickly.
As with IE, Firefox is not an email program so there are no emails to import. Any email site that you can access with either IE or Firefox will be a webmail system that stores the emails on the server of the webmail service and not on your computer. So any emails that you can access using IE will also be there when you use Firefox.
When you first install Firefox it will offer to import your IE favorites, and some setting such as the home page from IE. For more details see Import Bookmarks and other data from Microsoft Edge.
